Local legends 2006-01-23 |
| By Bookhound (TN) |
A must read for someone into local legends, particularly a person living in the area in which the book is set.
A thrilling new take at the vampire the, two waring fractions of the vampire world, a lost leader re-awakened and a group of middle aged buddies from high school stuck right in the middle of it all.
Full of twists and turns and bursts of excitement, this novel keeps you guessing as to the truth behind the legends. Clues placed teasingly before your eyes, leading you to a conclusion, then making you question yourself.
Well written and intriguing to the end. Although slightly slow to pick up the pace it builds to a tantalising showdown.

One of the Worst Vampire Books I Have Ever read 2005-09-12 |
| By Mrs. Tracey M. Mcdougal RN (Chicago, IL, USA) |
| Avoid this book at all costs. If I could give it -2 stars I would. It is Boring with a capital "B". |
Awful! 2002-01-26 |
| I had to stop reading after the 1st quarter of the book. Went to the finish to see that it ended as poorly as it began. What the publishers were thinking about when they put this out confounds me. It reads like a (not very good) first draft that was never passed by an editor. |
What a waste of time 2001-12-09 |
I will never get the time I spent reading this book back. It is GONE GONE GONE. Mind you, cheesy writing with one dimensional characters is not a crime, but this book could set a precedent. Creating a gang of friends just so that you can kill, maime, and injure them in various ways is a cheap way to gain emotional response from the readers. Of course, we the readers could care less since the characters were never really developed properly. Dawn of the Vampire is bad on so many levels, it seems unfair to actually get too detailed in reviewing it. I can only give a warning and wonder if all those glowing rave reviews are only a trick to sucker others the way I have been suckered. If only there were negative stars. |
Nothing Will Stop Them Now! A Superior Vampire novel 2001-10-27 |
| By Rodney Powell (Macon,Georgia) |
This was a superior vampire novel about a group of childhood friends who's simple reunion becomes a terrifying battle to the death against a group of day-walking vampires! Troy Bane is searching for his friend Dillion, who has disappeared while investigating a local murder. What Troy and friends do find is terror as they fight for survival against Von Damme and his army of day-walking vampires.Hill's gripping vampire novel has scenes of plot twists, sinister atmosphere and plenty of gruesome and bloody action sequences such as pitch battle between our heroes and some bloodthirsty wolves!Another thing I love is how Hill's plot twists like two sets of competing vampire groups. I also love how the author creates nearly unstoppable vampires who are not stopped by daylight or religious objects like crosses. I look forward to the author's next vampire novel! |
